CLARIFYING COMMON QUESTIONS & MISCONCEPTIONS

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions to help you better understand the process of working in the UK healthcare sector:

1) Is the RED LIST (WHO List) still in effect?

Yes, the RED LIST (WHO List) is very much alive and will continue to be until at least March 2026, when it will be reviewed and updated again. However, it’s important to note that being on the WHO list does not prevent you from applying for jobs in the UK. You can and should apply directly for positions yourself. This is precisely why many people hire professionals like me to assist them through the process and help navigate the details.

2) Can I work as a nurse, radiographer, or other healthcare professional in the UK without IELTS?

Unfortunately, the answer remains No. The IELTS or another recognized English language proficiency test is a mandatory requirement for healthcare professionals to work in the UK. This ensures that you can communicate effectively with colleagues and patients, which is crucial in a healthcare environment. It has always been this way, and it’s an essential step in your application.

3) Can I work as a healthcare assistant in the UK without experience?

Again, the answer here is No. To work as a healthcare assistant in the UK, you must have relevant experience from your home country. Ideally, you should be currently practicing with at least 3 years of experience to demonstrate your competency in the field. It’s important to showcase your expertise and understanding of healthcare systems to successfully apply for such roles.

4) Can I come to the UK through the Apprenticeship route?

No, this route is not available to overseas applicants. The apprenticeship programs are only open to UK citizens, which means you must hold British nationality. If you’ve come across information suggesting otherwise, it is incorrect.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion. My role is to make the process smoother for you by providing accurate information and guidance throughout your journey. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out.

🍒Duces, Fabiola
